Devon Perlenfein’s 1980 Retro Restored Toyota Corolla

Pit Stop

  • What a passion to have, what a name plate to wear riding around the good ol buckeye state, some people who are just into driving their vehicles from point A to B will look at this car stunned, A corolla that is modified? I didn’t Know they even had worth, other than to haul around my Coach bags and my 3 besties. Well no no miss Paris Hilton on a budget, and you are corolla 4 door pimp’n to?, No Devon wants you to know about the corolla that use to be a sports beast from the east. This light weight Corollaest has to be seen to believe, Stripped and painted as if every turn was a smooth track, where hitting apex’s are funner then eating your favorite cake, or for some, kissing your beloved girlfriend.
  • Devon’s Corolla is a stripped monster, No not the fastest car, But a fun, Loud, head turner. I actually arrived at Devon’s shop late in the evening, I was greeted by a kind soul, and that is refreshing in the car world of today. I first walked into his Garage, and noticed a cool collection of Honda Gull-wing bikes, Suzuki bikes, and other assortment of bikes. I then noticed his locally famous V6 Camry TRD supercharged Toyota MR-2. This thing is sick non-the less, then he gave me the ok to proceeded to the other half of the garage. On the flip side of the garage, there was a nice black engine-less MR-2. As I kept snooping around with him, We then stumbled apon his older brothers gorgeous looking Lexus SC300, Lets just say it is quick, plus more quick, and is a great conceptional piece of work.
  • The thing that I love the most is when a car is super-duper light with a motor that rev’s to hell. I mean people literally, when Devon tried to hit rev limiter, We ran out of space before he could even hit the G spot. The ITB’s just scream to you,  in a symphony of four trumpets singing on the intake side. Corners seem like a piece of cake with a chassis that only weigh’s 1600 lbs. As we pulled back into Devon’s play land, He offered me a drink, what a gentlemen he is, a classy man, with the hope’s of bringing back a legend, a Toyota milestone, a car that has more heart than punch, No this may not be a 600 hp vehicle, but it might be more fun than that. A rev happy, light weight chassis, with spirit, a spirit of a lion, with the cunning stance of a cheetah, This might be a yorkie with a pit bull bark, but it damn sure will try to scream, bark, and snarl trying to bite at your nips through the corners, and Who doesn’t like the under dog?
